Around 100 GROUPAUTO and UAN motor factor member businesses attended the annual spring event along with 40 approved suppliers that kindly sponsored the whole event.
Every year, this event is the perfect opportunity for member delegates to meet with suppliers and catch up with fellow members in a fantastically grand and luxurious setting – this year being Malaga’s historic landmark hotel.
The Gran Miramar Hotel was originally opened in 1926 as a hotel of distinction by King Alfonso VIII before its facilities were used as a field hospital during the Spanish Civil War to tend for the injured.
Now, the hotel has been brought back to its previous historical splendour and recently nominated for ‘Best Hotel in Spain’.
The weekend was full of opportunities to socialise but also to share best practices and spend valuable time with approved suppliers from the group.
Over 300 delegates arrived on Friday morning to a warm welcome from the senior management team from the UK Trading Groups.
On arrival the hotel presented the guests with drinks and a light lunch giving them a taste of what delights were in store for the remainder of their stay.
The Friday afternoon was an opportunity for guests to explore the €100m refurbished hotel, settle in to their rooms or venture in to the beautiful city-centre of Malaga.
On Friday evening the hotel prepared a superb banquet where all the guests enjoyed each other’s company on immaculately set tables around the pool side.
The workshop meeting sessions took place on Saturday morning in the grand ballroom where the 40 suppliers had tables ready for business discussions.
Over 700 meeting places were booked during an extremely productive morning.
The afternoon again was at leisure for all guests to enjoy the sun, sea and sangria.
Guests then arrived downstairs for pre-dinner drinks before making their way through to the gala dinner in the stunning, chandelier-dressed ball room of the Gran Miramar hotel.
GROUPAUTO and UAN members came together to celebrate a memorable evening of fine dining.
The ballroom was converted in to a theatre style setting for the annual Spring conference session where members and suppliers gathered for a group presentation on stage by Steve Richardson, UK trading group managing director, Bob Ackroyd, GROUPAUTO managing director, Michael Swan, UK group purchasing manager, and Phil Dodd, UK group commercial manager.
Unfortunately, due to medical advice, Karen Martin, UAN managing director, was unable to attend the event so the UAN information was presented on her behalf.
The presentations provided an update on group performance and the projections for the rest of year including initiatives and future events the group can expect.
“The key message was that of group growth and how the trading group has become what we believe to be the best resourced in the industry.
“The final evening saw a relaxed dinner in the hotel grounds where guests enjoyed the party atmosphere and looked forward to meeting again at future events,” commented a spokesperson for GROUPAUTO.
On the topic of future events, we are currently planning exciting things for the 2019 spring event to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the Alliance Automotive Group founded in 1989.
“This event is not possible without the support of our approved suppliers that sponsor the weekend, so we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for helping to make this such an exceptional event,” added the spokesperson.
