With rear cameras now the norm in newer vehicles, experts at HELLA Gutmann Solutions (HGS) say it has become more crucial than ever that workshops invest in the equipment that can safely and reliably calibrate this technology.
For more than a decade, HGS claims to have been the authoritative voice in the automotive aftermarket as to how important it is for workshops to future proof their businesses by investing in advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) calibration and electronic diagnostic equipment.

Alongside the mega macs diagnostic hardware, the CSC (camera & sensor calibration) Kits, Rear Cam I + II enable the exact calibration of the all-round vision camera system and the rear view camera, which is vital for ensuring correct ADAS operation and maximum safety.
A HGS spokesperson said: “When using the HGS CSC tool, for front, rear or side calibration, the vehicle should be parked on level ground, with sufficient space around the car and equipment, as well as the camera’s visual field being clear.
“According to manufacturer’s specifications, the cameras must also be aligned on the thrust line (at a 90° angle to the rear axles centreline) for the Rear Cam I + II Kit, along with the steering angle sensor reset to zero.”
Multi-brand solution
The ‘rear cam kit I basic’ and ‘rear cam II’ is a multi-brand solution, as it calibrates several models, including Audi, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Seat, Skoda, Subaru and VW, with further models added to future software updates as new vehicles are fitted with this technology.
The spokesperson added: “Paired with the CSC tool and HGS’s mega macs diagnostic tool, technicians can be assured that they are prepared to safely diagnose and calibrate any vehicle that comes into their workshop.”
