Garages urged to invest in ADAS technology and training

Hella Gutmann highlights the growing importance of ADAS calibration for workshops

Garages urged to invest in ADAS technology and training

With the increasing number of vehicles featuring Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on UK roads, Hella Gutmann is urging garages to invest in technician training and specialist equipment.

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) predicts that one-fifth of all vehicles in the UK will be equipped with ADAS by 2025. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity for independent workshops.

“…technicians will need the skills and equipment to work on them. This makes upskilling and training, as well as investment in key equipment essential as we enter the second half of the decade.”” said Julian Goulding, Head of Sales at Hella Gutmann. The company offers a range of ADAS calibration tools, including the CSC-Tool SE, CSC-Tool Digital, and CSC-Tool Mobile, to cater to different workshop needs.

Hella Gutmann also estress the importance of technician training. Their recently opened HELLA Academy provides ADAS-specific training courses to help workshops address this growing demand.

Another challenge for garages is access to certain vehicle systems, often restricted by dealer-specific tools. Hella Gutmann’s macsRemote device offers a solution by providing remote access to specialist expertise, enabling workshops to complete jobs that would otherwise require dealer tools.

“Technology and the need for training will continue to be key concerns for garages in 2025, but with the support of HELLA and Hella Gutmann, workshops will be able to face up to the challenge and make the most of the opportunity.” concluded Julian.
