Following a successful pilot program in 2024, HELLA Academy is expanding its outreach by hosting college open days throughout 2025. These events aim to inspire and educate the next generation of automotive technicians about the exciting opportunities within the UK’s aftermarket industry.
Led by HELLA’s UK Technical Training Manager, Steve Fox, the open days provide a unique blend of theoretical and practical experiences. Students get firsthand exposure to cutting-edge technologies like Hella Gutmann’s ADAS calibration equipment and diagnostic tools such as mega macs X and macsRemote Services. They also participate in interactive sessions like camera calibration and remote diagnostics, gaining valuable practical skills.
“By bridging the gap between education and industry, we aim to spark curiosity, build skills, and highlight the exciting future of the aftermarket,” said Steve Fox. “Our college open days give students practical exposure to diagnostics and ADAS calibration while showcasing the diverse career paths available beyond traditional roles.”
HELLA recognises the importance of shaping the future workforce for the ever-evolving automotive sector. Students attending the open days, like Tia Marsh from East Coast College, appreciate the opportunity to learn from a leading industry brand.
“Having such a big brand like HELLA take the time to welcome us and share their expertise has been amazing,” said Tia Marsh, a motor vehicle student at East Coast College who recently attended a college open day at HELLA Academy. “They’ve been so approachable, answering all our questions and really showing us what goes on here. It’s inspiring to see a company of this scale investing in students like us.”
“Exposure to technologies like ADAS and remote diagnostics is essential for our students,” said Matthew Yeldham, a lecturer from East Coast College. “They are the future of this industry, and by familiarising them with these innovations, we’re setting them up for success.”
HELLA Academy’s college open days will continue throughout 2025, providing more students with the chance to explore the dynamic world of automotive technology. Colleges interested in participating can contact Steve Fox at [email protected].
