WRX season comes to a thrilling end in South Africa

The 2019 World Rallycross season will be remembered as one of the closest and most exciting seasons in motorsport history, according to KYB whose staff and technology played a supporting role to one of the main protagonists, Andreas Bakkerud of Monster Energy Cartel.

The RX Cartel was only confirmed and entered in the final moments before the 2019 deadline.

With minimal preparation it was a triumph for the team to be able to enter two drivers, besides having both of those drivers appear on the podium throughout a thrilling year of racing.

Supported by EKS who also entered with rookie Supercar driver Krisztian Szabo, all three drivers have enjoyed brilliant highs and frustrating lows throughout the season, before the final race of the year in Killarney, South Africa on 9th November.

Liam Doran finished 8th overall with 114 points, this was a great achievement for the British driver.

EKS Hungarian driver Krisztian Szabo finished 10th overall in his first full season in WorldRX Supercars, with 99 points. Monster Energy RX Cartel finished as a team in third place overall, with 299 points.

Andreas Bakkerud finished the season after 196 races level on 211 points with Sweden’s Timmy Hansen.

After hours of deliberation from the race officials concerning some contact in turn six of the final race, the result was confirmed and Norwegian Bakkerud came in second based on race wins.

KYB is a proud partner of EKS and the Monster Energy RX Cartel as they battled it out for the FIA World Rallycross Championship 2019.

Both teams used KYB dampers and electronic power steering and are supported by expert KYB engineers at races and during testing.
