Lucas Oil has announced it is entering the British Truck Racing Association (BTRA) Championship this season, in partnership with John Powell Racing for the duration of 2019.

Although Lucas Oil is a name commonly associated with a wide range of track and off-road racing events around the world, such as Nascar, oval and drag racing, monster trucks and Moto-X, this is the first time the Lucas Oil US Shield has been officially involved in the BTRA Championship.

Testing aftermarket products under race conditions

Driver John Powell and his JPR truck racing team will be testing a variety of different products – including oils, lubricants, problem-solving additives, greases, as well as vehicle care and protection solutions – throughout the 2019 season to demonstrate how well they perform under extreme race conditions in the 760BHP DAF.

“It’s a new opportunity, a very competitive team and the new season looks set to be a testing time for our brand,” says Garry Phillips, UK sales manager at Lucas Oil Products (UK).

The 2019 BTRA season begins at Brands Hatch over the weekend of April 21-22, with a total of eight meetings taking place at six tracks.

The other meetings are held at Pembrey (11-12 May & 5-6 October), Thruxton (29-30 June) Nürburgring (19-21 July) and Donington (10-11 August).

The BTRA Championship returns to Brands Hatch for the season finale (2-3 November).
