Lucas Oil’s sponsored Retro Rallycross racer Tony Lynch just missed out on the Championship in a final round thriller at Lydden Hill (8 Nov, 2021), Kent, last weekend.
After qualifying in second place for the event finale, his Toyota MR2 had to finish ahead of close rival Simon Hart’s Mk1 Ford Escort and then hope that other drivers could fill enough places behind him to deny Hart the title.
Lynch finished a brave third, but a fifth place finish for Hart was enough to secure the Championship.
Tony Lynch said: “It’s a shame that we couldn’t deliver the title, but we gave it our all. I have to say a huge thank you to the sponsors who have backed us this year and to all those who have given their support along the way.”
The car runs on Lucas Oil’s 20w50 High Zinc Racing Oil.
To compensate for the extreme racing conditions, the engineering team adds Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Engine Oil Stabilizer, which provides extra protection for the engine across the entire season.
The gearbox is lubricated by Lucas Oil’s 75w90 synthetic oil.
Since making the move into Rallycross, Tony Lynch has firmly established himself as one of the top racers in Britain with multiple championship titles to his name.
National MDA Champion in both 2005 and 2006, Tony is also a two-time MSA Stockhatch champion, BMW MINI Rallycross champion and in 2014, came out top in the Super Modified over 2101cc category in the BTRDA Series.
Lucas Oil’s Sales and Operations Director Dan Morgan praised a brave performance that almost snatched a win against improbable odds: “Bad luck in earlier rounds left just too many points to make up, but Tony’s ability behind the wheel almost turned it around at the end. It’s been a profile raising season for Lucas Oil.”
