MAHLE Aftermarket UK’s managing director, Jonathan Walker, has given a voice to the automotive aftermarket in a new episode of the Leaders Council podcast to discuss leadership and the role it has played in his career to date.
The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is currently in the process of talking to leadership figures from across the nation in an attempt to understand this universal trait and what it means in Britain and Northern Ireland today.
In the podcast, Walker explored what ‘leadership’ means to him, talking about the widespread, worldwide influences that have shaped his career and the importance of communication, honesty and always being clear and concise with colleagues and customers.
He then discussed how best to adapt these experiences into authentic business situations in order to drive performance and achieve clear outputs and results.
After joining with the business’ UK arm in 2007 as head of engineering air induction systems with MAHLE Filter Systems UK Ltd, he then went on to become UK managing director of MAHLE Aftermarket in 2013, before taking on the role of Western Europe chief in 2018.
Walker said: “It was great to represent the automotive industry and be a part of this nationwide series.
“Working at MAHLE for over 20 years has provided me with the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and I look forward to continuing to grow and putting this into practice in the upcoming years.”
Lord Blunkett, chairman of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland commented: “I think the most informative element of each episode is the first part, where Scott Challinor is able to sit down with someone who really gets how their industry works and knows how to make their organisation tick. Someone who’s there day in day out working hard and inspiring others.
“That’s what leadership is all about.”
