Mintex donates brake training aids to inspire next generation of engineering talent

Braking friction specialist TMD Friction has donated braking training aids through its renowned Mintex brand to Reddish Hall School in Stockport, a school for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs.

Reddish Hall School’s new charity was set up to equip children and young adults with vocational skills, including in mechanical engineering, and Mintex answered the call for vehicle part donations to serve as learning resources for the next generation of talent.

Scott Irwin, MIMI Head of technical training at TMD Friction, said: “We’re delighted to support Reddish Hall School’s new venture that is equipping the next generation of talent in mechanical engineering and the automotive industry.

“Mintex has jumped into the breach here to support such a valuable educational setting with a variety of braking parts to support the pupils’ learning; it would be great to have further suppliers in automotive supporting this too.”

Reddish Hall School’s vocational facility has been open 18 months with the new mechanical site now featuring two ramps and a tyre fitting machine.

Initially, the facility had resources for carpentry and brick laying courses but has since widened opportunities for pupils with a range of automotive training aids.

Mintex has donated brake calipers, disc brakes and pads to the school’s new facility, plus a range of branded Mintex goods such as posters and signage.

The aftermarket braking specialist will also be providing technical talks on brakes and the automotive industry to give pupils insight into how brakes work and the opportunities available in the sector.
