Renowned brake brand, Mintex, has provided brake pads for Mission Motorsport’s latest challenge in Spa, Belguim, which saw three staff and 16 beneficiaries and volunteers compete in a 24-hour challenge.

The first of the two cars raced, car 316, qualified for a start position of 64 with a time of 3.38.002 and car 322 qualified in 96th place with a time of 3.43.430.

Met with changeable weather making for an interesting race, car 316 was steady the whole way through and came back from last place to finish P20 in class and 45th overall, having completed 327 laps along the way.

Car 316 also managed to secure the 4th fastest lap of the C1 UK class with a time of 3.34.972.

Mintex’s friction material performed well throughout, helping drivers to successfully navigate the track.

Unfortunately, car 322 was running P5 in class but had to retire on lap 148 due to a collision with another car at Pouhon.

Chris Leech, a Mission Motorsport beneficiary said: “I had a great experience on the recent trip to the C1 24-hrs.

“I really enjoyed being part of a team again and getting stuck in to some proper graft.

“The mechanics are fantastic and have infinite patience in dealing with us and our various issues.

“I learnt a lot about cars, racing and how it all works compared to my limited experience with bike racing.

“I also, and possibly more importantly, learnt a lot about myself and how I should have more confidence in my abilities.”

Richard Barton, TMD Friction’s racing manager, added: “It has been a privilege to support Mission Motorsport with the C1 24-hour challenge.

“The organisation does a great job in supporting those affected by military operations through a love of motorsport, which makes this initiative right up our street.”
