Motul joins forces with Honda UK for the first time as an integral part of their dealer network portfolio and as official lubricant partner to their race teams in British Superbikes and International Road Racing.
From 2022 onwards Motul will be added to the HONDA UK (HUK) range of lubricants and motorcycle care range in their dealerships throughout the UK – capitalising on HUK’s racing activities along the way.
An initial three years agreement allows the Motul brand to showcase itself at UK short circuits and road racing events at the highest level, outlines our shared “Race to Road” philosophy.
With the Motul brand prominently featured on the flanks of some of HONDA’s finest racing steeds, it is anticipated that dealers will be inundated with demand for MOTUL as the race season progresses and the IOM TT returns.
Honda is fielding by an unprecedented four ‘factory’ riders in BSB, with reigning Superstock 1000 champion Tom Neaves competing alongside established BSB race winner Glenn Irwin and two Japanese riders, Takumi Takahashi and Ryo Mizuno – all supported by HRC.
Irwin and long-time Motul brand ambassador (and 23-times IOM TT winner) John McGuiness will race on the roads.
Glenn is no stranger to road racing, having won at the MACAU GP also having taken four North West 200 Superbike race wins in recent years.
2022 is an eventful year for HONDA.
It’s the 20th year in BSB, the 70th year at the IOM TT and the CBR1000RR-R FIREBLADE SP’s 30th birthday, so all in all it’s a great year for MOTUL to join.
John McGuiness also turns 50 this year and 2022 is set to be his 100th start at the IOM TT.
With Motul’s very own 300V (the only oil officially accredited by HRC for use with their FIREBLADE Race kits) celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021, the prospect of sharing this season with HONDA is a truly exciting.
Neil Fletcher, head of motorcycles, Honda UK said: “We are delighted to announce a new working partnership with Motul this year.
“They have a wealth of success across many motorsport series around the world and I have been impressed by their passion and professionalism.
“It’s great to form a new partnership together in such an important and special year as the Fireblade celebrates its 30th Anniversary in both BSB and the Roads.
“We have a busy few months ahead with testing starting soon, the BSB championship on the near horizon and we can’t wait to head back to Northern Ireland for the NW200 and then quickly on to the TT with Glenn making his first start and John his 100th.”
Günter Steven, head of sales export, Motul Deutschland said: “As one of the leading motorbike manufacturers in the United Kingdom, Honda trusts our premium range of high-performance lubricants and motorcycle care products as well as our sales concepts for their dealer network.
“We are very pleased about this and it is a solid basis on which we will build a successful cooperation.
“The fact that we also share the same values on top of that, as well as a great commitment to motorsport, offers both of us the perfect basis for a long-term partnership.
“We can’t wait to merge our collective knowledge and experience in both trade and motorsport to create a great synergy together.”
