Jorge Martin etched his name in MotoGP history by becoming the first independent rider to claim the World Championship title.
This achievement, secured at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona, follows Prima Pramac Racing’s success as the first independent team champions in 2023.
The Barcelona race doubled as a fundraising event for Valencia, hit by devastating floods earlier this year. The championship battle itself was a nail-biting affair, with Martin defying the challenge from factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia.
Martin’s consistency throughout the season was key to his victory. He secured three feature race wins and six sprint victories, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
Motul, a long-standing partner of Prima Pramac Racing since 2021, celebrates this historic victory. Their collaboration thrives on shared values of excellence, performance, and innovation, leading not only to technological advancements but also engaging marketing initiatives.
For Motul, MotoGP is more than just a platform – it embodies their brand identity and technological leadership. This victory echoes Joan Mir’s championship win with Suzuki Ecstar in 2020, solidifying Motul’s legacy at the peak of motorcycle racing.
“The scale of this achievement is incredible,” said Andy Wait, Motul UK Sales Director. “We’re incredibly proud to be a part of it.”
