The 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours witnessed an intense battle across three categories: Hypercar, LMP2, and LMGT3. In a nail-biting race, Motul-supported teams secured remarkable wins:
- LMP2 Glory: United Autosports triumphed, with the number 22 car driven by Oliver Jarvis, Nolan Siegal, and Bijoy Garg. Their hard-fought victory marked Motul’s second Le Mans 24-hour LMP2 category win. Inter Europol Racing, another Motul partner, followed closely behind.
- LMGT3 Triumph: The Manthey EMA Porsche, lubricated by Motul, clinched the inaugural Le Mans LMGT3 category honors. This victory echoed their success at the previous WEC round in Spa.
Motul’s 300V engine oil played a pivotal role. Inspired by aviation industry practices, 300V—named after Motul’s 300 race victories—was the world’s first fully synthetic motor oil when introduced in 1971. Today, the 300V range offers tailored variants for specific needs: Power, Competition, and Le Mans (designed for maximum reliability).
The Le Mans challenge intensified due to the removal of tyre warmers, leaving cars periodically struggling for grip on the colder, often wet track. Safety Car periods compressed the field, resulting in a flat-out race to the chequered flag.
All LMP2 cars, powered by the same 600 BHP 4.2-liter V8 Gibson GK428 engines, leave the factory with Motul 300V—the result of a longstanding partnership with Gibson.
Motul’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy Wait, sums it up: “Le Mans is an incredible test of man and machine every year, but this year’s 24 Hours was so incredibly competitive, it was really going to take something special to win,”
“Huge congratulations, therefore, to all our Motul teams who won, made the podium, or indeed made it to the finish. To have come away victories in both LMP2 and GTE is more than we could have hoped for and is testimony to the huge efforts of our partner teams and their drivers in writing another chapter in the long history of Motul motorsport success.”
