Motul extends partnership with British 4X series

Lubricant company expands bicycle care product presence through cycling sponsorship

Motul extends partnership with British 4X series

Motul is enhancing its British Cycling Partnership by renewing its sponsorship of the British 4X Series. This move supports Motul’s expansion in the bicycle care and lubricant product sector.

The British 4X Series combines downhill mountain biking (a sport in which Motul is a World Championship partner) and BMX. The format involves four bikes competing in races to determine an overall winner, similar to Rallycross. The series features short, fast-paced races on challenging courses, providing action for both spectators and participants.

Jason Davies, Motul UK’s Head of Performance Products, explained, “Motul has been in the bicycle market for a couple of years now. We have some very high-profile global partnerships and, with the scheduled UK Round of the Downhill World Mountain Biking Championship not taking place this year, it was really important to us to maintain a strong presence in this arena, so continuing our partnership with British 4x allows us to achieve this, and also enhance what we have already achieved with the series last year.”

Motul’s range of bicycle products addresses key needs for cyclists: degreasing, cleaning, lubricating, and preventive maintenance. The product range includes:

  • Cleaning: Motul Frame Clean, Motul Dry Clean, Motul Chain Clean, Motul Brake Clean
  • Lubrication and Prevention: Chain Lube Dry, Chain Lube Wet, EZ Lube, Tubeless Tire Sealant

Motul utilises technology from its car and motorcycle products in its bicycle range. Has Tahier, Motul UK Technical Specialist, stated that chain lubricants, for example, use a variation of the ester technology found in their engine oils. Ester technology in lubricants provides excellent lubricating properties and protection for components like gears, chains, and sprockets, surpassing the performance of PTFE-based lubricants. These products are designed to protect bicycles against wear, whether they are road bikes, mountain bikes, or e-bikes.

Motul’s bicycle products align with the company’s focus on sustainability. Jason Davies added, “It has to be the future. Our Next Generation – NGEN – Technology is increasingly featuring in all of our product ranges but, of course, with Bicycle Products it has to be front and centre. Our partnership with the British 4X Series will allow us to showcase our credentials, both in terms of sustainability – and, of course, with Motul, in terms of Performance – to the enthusiast audience, who really appreciate the differences our products have over others.”

The 2025 British 4X Series calendar is as follows:

  • Rounds 1 and 2: Chicksands, Bedfordshire – 12/13 April
