NGK-backed Andy celebrates Santa Pod victory

Seven-time UK Pro Mod champion Andy Robinson has won a major event in his NGK-sponsored race car ‘Anger Management 2.0’.

The new look ’69 Camaro race car made its debut last year, three years after the original car known as ‘Anger Management’, was written off in a 200mph accident in the 2018 National Finals at the Santa Pod Raceway.

Fortunately Andy, driver and owner of the race team, walked away shaken but otherwise unhurt, testament to the team’s acknowledged excellence in chassis and roll cage design and fabrication.

The accident came at the end of a season that had seen the car achieve a record breaking run of 5.867 seconds and a top speed of 246.37mph for the quarter mile.

Now the team is celebrating its first event win in the new car and posted: “We won! What an honour it is to receive one of the new style Santa Pod trophies. This means a lot to us, especially winning against a first class team like the Wallace family.

“So far in @ourmotorsportuk Pro Mod this year there has been three events and three entirely different pairs of finalists, each won with a five-second run. Exciting to say the least. This is our first event win with the new car, we are over the moon.”

Ignition and sensor specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd and Andy’s company, Robinson Race Cars, have a long-established relationship spanning more than eleven years.

Mark Hallam, marketing manager, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “It’s great to see Andy back on top of the podium and once again thrilling his many fans.”
