Motorcycle ace set to defend Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship title

NGK-sponsored Chrissy Rouse signs with new team for 2021

NGK-sponsored motorcycle ace Chrissy Rouse will defend his Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship title in 2021, signing with the GR Motosport team to race on the all-new Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

Rouse sealed this 2020’s title crown with two victories and a further five podiums to secure the championship victory at the Brands Hatch season finale, and now he is determined to retain the number one plate in 2021.

Ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has been a long-time supporter of the teacher from Burnopfield near Newcastle who said: “I was hoping to step up to the Superbike class in 2021, but as that was not an option this year, what better than to challenge for the title again and try to retain the number one plate on the brand new ZX-10RR.

“I am really pleased to be joining GR Motorsport and also very grateful for the opportunity, I’m really looking forward to getting out on the bike testing in the New Year ready for round one at Oulton Park.

“The Superstock class looks set for probably the most competitive line up to date with most of the front-running lads staying and with the addition of a few others – I’m going to really have to be on my A-game to retain the title.”

Team owner Brent Gladwin said: “What a Christmas treat for everyone in signing Chrissy to defend his Superstock 1000 title on the all-new Stauff Fluid Power Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

“Chrissy did a great job in 2020, and we aim to continue that success next year and then have him join Storm on the Superbike in 2022.”

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd marketing manager Mark Hallam said: “I am sure that all NGK customers who are motorcycle racing fans cannot wait to see Chrissy ride for his new team in 2021 when he will be fighting hard to defend the championship that he won in such impressive style this year.”
