Digital training provider, Our Virtual Academy has released a hybrid braking systems module as part of its new three-part course on hybrid and electric vehicles.
An Our Virtual Academy spokesperson said: “Hybrid cars are designed to take advantage of regenerative braking at every opportunity, but also require a hydraulic friction braking system to provide sufficient power for emergency braking.
“If you haven’t already completed our introduction to hybrid and hybrid electric motor generators (permanent magnet synchronous motors) courses, we suggest you take a look at them first to give you an overview.”
Part one of the course covers how the brake pedal works to actuate both regenerative braking and friction braking while part two goes into more detail about linear valves and the workings of the brake control unit.
Part three tackles the issues presented in the workshop by these unconventional braking systems, and explains what is happening in the hydraulic system during the brake bleeding process.
Our Virtual Academy subscribers get unlimited access to all online training, available 24 hours a day.
