Philips has received a ‘recommended award’ in the Auto Express Dash Cams product group test in May.
Automatic dash recorders “Dash Cams” are enjoying huge growth, with over 2.6 million on the road today.
Auto Express tested eight cameras, looking for clarity of footage and the level of detail captured, such as number plates, street signs and pedestrian movements in a variety of light conditions.
In addition, each device was rated for ease of use, looking at how straightforward it was to change settings and whether they were easy to install. Price was the final factor taken into account.
Auto Express reported: “Philips’ ADR820 is cheaper than many rivals, but video quality is still great.
“The Super HD footage from the 140- degree lens picked out similar detail to out 1440p cams.
“Also, the F1.8 aperture was good in low light and the CMOS sensor adjusted exposure well as light changed.
“The verdict is the Philips ADR820 impresses with its great-value price tag and good-quality recordings.”
