New tool offers controlled and effortless bonded windscreen removal

Power-TEC launches Ratchet Wound Windscreen Removal Kit

Power-TEC has introduced its 92724 Ratchet Wound Windscreen Removal Kit, designed to simplify and improve the process of removing bonded windscreens. Utilising a cord and winding cutting system, this kit requires less physical effort compared to traditional knife and rope-saw methods, aiming to reduce user fatigue while enhancing accuracy.

The ratchet-driven mechanism applies a smooth and consistent cutting force, which helps to minimise the risk of damage to the vehicle bodywork or cracking the windscreen glass. The controlled winding action ensures a steady and efficient cut, making the kit suitable for single-person operation.

The kit includes a 145mm diameter vacuum-grip cutting line anchor for securing the cutting cord, a 145mm diameter cutting line guide pulley to ensure smooth cord movement, and a 145mm diameter cutting line winder with a ratchet and socket for controlled force. It also contains a strong aramid wire cord for high-strength bonding, a piercing wire feed tool, a chisel installation stick and hook pick tool for guiding, and a dash protection board.

To operate the kit, the winder is secured inside the vehicle on the windscreen. The cutting cord is fed through to the outside, wrapped around the windscreen, and anchored using the vacuum anchor. The cord is then guided inside using the pulley to achieve the correct cutting angle. Operating the ratchet winder allows for a smooth cut through the bonded adhesive.

The Power-TEC 92724 Ratchet Wound Windscreen Removal Kit is designed to be user-friendly for workshops and technicians working with modern bonded windscreens.
