With sales of electric cars continuing to grow, automotive distribution company, Prosol UK, is urging independent garage owners to embrace changing consumer trends.
Electric and hybrid vehicle (EHV) sales leapt by 110 per cent during the 12 months to January 2019 compared with the previous year and now for 6.8 per cent of the UK vehicle parc.
A Prosol spokesperson said: “Independent service and repair workshops need to prepare now to protect their future.
“Prosol UK have consulted with a leading EHV training provider to compile a relevant and cost-effective range of products to help service and repair garages and their technicians stay safe.
“Many of the EHV Workshop safety solutions offered are unique to the company and have been developed over a period of months with trusted manufacturers and designers.”
With voltages of up to 650 volts DC present in some electric vehicles, experts say there is a very real danger of death for untrained technicians and ill-equipped workshops.
