Ring Automotive warns of potential flat battery issues in EVs

Electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid owners are urged to be aware of a potential weak spot – the 12-volt battery.

According to a recent report, these batteries can drain quickly when the vehicle is unused for extended periods of time, which can end up leading to a dead car. Restarting requires a trip to the dealership, potentially taking weeks to resolve.

Ring Automotive recommend monitoring the 12-volt battery health and using a smart charger to maintain its charge. Their RSCP3024 smart charger caters to various battery types, and offers optimised charging for extended battery life.

If the 12-volt battery does go flat, even with a fully charged main battery, the vehicle can’t start. For such situations, Ring offers the RPPL1000 Lithium Professional Jump Starter. This lightweight and portable device provides a quick and safe jumpstart, even in low-light conditions.
