Garage management specialist, TechMan has continued to increase the scope of its ‘TechView’ mobile interface, with video functionality proving to be a particularly big hit with its users.
Just 18 months after the launch of the feature, TechMan says that its garage users are wondering how they ever managed without this intuitive and multi-functional add-on.
TechView is a mobile interface which enables ‘paperless’ working and has become incredibly popular with garage owners, as it enables electronic job cards to be delivered directly to technician’s tablets.
Technicians are then able to access everything needed to complete the job, including customer history, parts ordering status, electronic service sheets, previous advisories and more.
The video function was initially piloted with TechMan’s customer base of independent garages, who were won over immediately as it enabled technicians to attach a video to any job card.
These videos can be used to record a health check, walk round or an area requiring work, and screenshots can also be captured from the live video afterwards.
Leo Freebairn, national sales manager at TechMan said: “Since the launch we’ve added a customer portal where vehicle owners can view all of the videos, check sheets and images created by garages, alongside estimates for any work required which can be authorised without the need to speak directly to the garage.
“Removing the need for face-to-face or over-the-phone approval is a real benefit for those customers who are pressed for time, and has added an extra level of convenience for both the garage and the end user’’
“Feedback from garage owners has shown us just how useful this kind of transparency is when it comes to keeping customers happy.”
Reported benefits have included increased conversion of sales opportunities, leading to improved customer confidence and increased revenue.
Leo added: “Crucially, despite offering exceptional new functionality, the addition of video did not result in any increase to the subscription costs for TechMan customers.
“Lots of video-only systems start at around £50 per month with limitations on numbers of videos and users, so building this in for free is a prime example of how we’ve added value for our customers.”
