Monroe® Safety Ambassador Thierry Neuville and his racing partner Nicolas Gilsoul claimed victory at the 66th Rally Sweden race held on 8 February.
Neuville’s latest FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) win, his seventh overall and first at Rally Sweden, makes him the first Belgian and only the third non-Scandinavian driver in history to win the famed winter event.
After closing out the 2017 season with a victory at Kennards Hire Rally Australia, the reigning WRC Vice World Champion is off to a strong start in 2018, leading all competitors in the drivers’ standings with 41 points after the first two events.
“I couldn’t be happier about our victory in Rally Sweden,” Neuville said.
“This one was very important for us and seals our seventh win in World Rally Championship.
“We are now leading the Drivers’ standings and even though there’s still a long way to go, we will do everything to stay there.
“I want to thank our partner, Tenneco’s Monroe brand, for the strong support; our full focus is now on the next round, starting in two weeks, under the sun of Mexico.”
WRC continues from 8 to 11 March with the Rally Guanajuato Mexico.
