TMD Friction, the parent company of brake specialist Textar, has launched a new online training platform: the Textar Virtual Academy. This initiative aims to address the skills gap in the automotive industry by providing accessible and engaging training resources for mechanics and technicians.
The Textar Virtual Academy offers a wide range of courses covering various aspects of braking systems, from basic replacement procedures to the latest advancements in technology, including regenerative braking systems used in hybrid and electric vehicles. The platform features interactive tutorials, high-quality animations, and FAQs in five languages. Courses are designed for all skill levels, from apprentices to experienced technicians.
“With the increasing complexity of braking systems, it’s crucial for technicians to stay up-to-date with the latest developments,” said Scott Irwin, Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction. “The Textar Virtual Academy provides a convenient and efficient way for mechanics to gain manufacturer-level knowledge and improve their skills, ultimately reducing warranty claims and benefitting both garages and their customers.”
To promote the launch of the platform, Textar is running a pre-launch campaign called “Best in Braking.” The first 500 people to sign up (250 for passenger cars and 250 for commercial vehicles) will receive free access to the platform for the entire month of February and be entered into a competition with exclusive prizes.
The Textar Virtual Academy is initially available in the U.S., Mexico, and parts of Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Poland, and Romania. The platform will be available to all users after the pre-launch campaign for a fee.
