Watch: How Turbo Technics is “raising standards and driving innovation”

Manufacturer of turbochargers and specialist machinery used in the turbocharger repair industry, Turbo Technics has this week spoke to Garage Wire about its Northampton HQ operations.

Founded in 1981 by Geoff Kershaw, Turbo Technics acts as consultants to manufacturers, repair shops and independent garages in their quest for quality turbochargers.

The firm manufactures a wide range of direct replacement new, remanufactured and performance turbochargers.

Turbo Technics is also globally-recognised for producing a range of turbocharger core-balancing machines, which it claims is acknowledged by the industry as the world standard for balancing modern turbochargers.

All machines are manufactured in the UK and are backed by UK technical support with assistance from its distributor network.

Remanufactured turbochargers

Turbo Technics remanufactured turbochargers are assembled and tested to the original manufacturer’s standards, at a considerably lower price than new.

Stocked turbos cover virtually every car and light commercial vehicle on the road, and are supplied to both the motor trade and direct to the public.

Operated on an exchange basis, replacement units are built to match the original manufacturer’s specification.

A Turbo Technics spokesperson said: “Bearings and seals are replaced as a matter of course, and other components are inspected and replaced as necessary.

“The core assembly is high-speed balanced and the entire assembly is checked and tested on a TT VSR.

“This ensures that your replacement unit will, at the absolute minimum, provide the performance and reliability of the original.”

The Turbo Technics machine shop is operated by an experienced workforce, using both CNC and manual machines.

A high degree of accuracy is required on many components, and with fully computerised milling and turning operations, these high standards are maintained across a wide range of machined components.

A dedicated welding/fabrication department provides essential support, and an inspection room provides quality control support.

The spokesperson added: “With a wide variety of options, Turbo Technics can nearly always find a solution.”
