VARTA simplifies battery selection with new colour-coded portfolio

VARTA Automotive has introduced a new product portfolio designed to simplify the selection of low-voltage vehicle batteries for wholesalers, workshops, and fleet operators. The new structure features a colour-coded labelling system for easy identification of suitable batteries for modern vehicles.

The portfolio includes:

  • SLI (Starting. Lighting. Ignition) (Blue Label): Provides reliable starting power for conventional vehicles.
  • EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) (Silver Label): Offers enhanced performance for Start-Stop vehicles and commercial vehicles with basic hoteling functions.
  • AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) (Gold Label): Designed for high-demand applications, including advanced Start-Stop systems, highly equipped commercial vehicles, and electrical consumers in EVs.
  • Li-Ion (Orange Label): A new addition tailored for deep-cycle off-grid leisure applications like motorhomes and marine use, offering superior energy storage and Bluetooth app connectivity.

Theres Gosztonyi, Vice President Aftermarket EMEA at Clarios, stated, “With this new portfolio, we are simplifying the battery selection – and setting a new benchmark in the aftermarket. Now, our customers can navigate the product range more easily, making the best decision to enhance vehicle performance and to increase reliability.”

VARTA is also introducing new Advanced Battery types, including the EFB H9 and AGM H3, offering higher energy efficiency and extended cycle life for modern vehicles. For heavy-duty applications, the VARTA ProMotive range includes the EFB A-Type, and the new AGM B-Type is planned for autumn 2025.

The new premium Li-Ion Leisure range for motorhomes, caravans, and marine applications provides twice the usable energy of lead-acid batteries, over 3,000 cycles, a 45% lighter design, and smart connectivity via Bluetooth and CAN bus, with a dedicated VARTA Li-Ion Battery Check-App.

Bernadette Gatzemeier, Senior Product Manager at Clarios, added, “The new portfolio is a direct response to the changing demands of the industry. With a clear, structured lineup and cutting-edge technology, we ensure that our batteries not only meet today’s requirements but are also ready for the future.”

VARTA continues to support partners with services like the VARTA Battery Finder and professional training for wholesalers and workshops, and the VARTA Fleet Program and TCO calculator for fleet operators.
