The ZF training facilities at Crick, Northampton.

The concept, run by ZF Aftermarket, provides independent workshops with full technical support and training for modern vehicles, ensuring workshops can keep up to date with changing technology and systems, and in turn preparing them for the automotive industry of the future.

Combining theory and practical exercises, [pro]Tech offers a comprehensive service package for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, which includes practice-oriented training courses, vehicle-specific installation instructions and access to on-site partner support.

Taking place at ZF’s dedicated training centre in Crick, Northampton, which includes a fully-operational workshop, the technical training modules cover driveline, chassis and steering systems.

Benefitting from a team of experienced ZF Aftermarket trainers, the modules focus on how to correctly handle high-tech components such as the XTend clutch; CDC; electronic damping system; dual-mass flywheel; and hybrid transmissions.

It also offers modules on high-voltage systems that address the increasing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles.

In a ZF Aftermarket press release, a spokesperson said: “To aid technicians, many of modules focus on detailed specifics of popular passenger cars sold across defined markets, including the BMW 528xi E61 and VW Passat 3C 2.0 TDI.

“The courses don’t just focus on standard vehicles, either – earlier this year members were provided with the opportunity to undertake a range of advanced training sessions, with the most recent programme focused on the BMW X-Drive.

“In order to provide members with a completely efficient service, the new web-based [pro]Tech portal provides convenient access to information and support.

“The new portal incorporates a range of useful features: from application details and technical specifications through to fitting instructions for the complete parts range which includes its industry-leading brand portfolio.”
