ZF employee encourages blood and platelet donations

Justin Thorpe, a Service Coordinator at ZF in Nottingham, is encouraging others to become blood and platelet donors after his own experience.

Thorpe, who has A negative blood type, began donating blood in 2021 and started donating platelets and plasma in 2022. He was inspired by colleagues who were already donors and by the knowledge that his donations could save lives, particularly for children with leukaemia and cancer.

Justin’s drive to become a donor stems from a desire to give back. “Everyone expects these resources to be available if you or your family need them, so if you can help, why wouldn’t you?” he says.

Thorpe emphasises the ease of donating and the positive impact it can have. He encourages anyone considering becoming a donor to visit the NHS Blood Donation website for more information.

For those inspired by Justin’s story, he encourages you to visit the NHS Blood Donation website to learn more and sign up. A single donation can help three adults or twelve children.
