So-called ‘Corsa cannibals’ have returned to Birmingham, stealing the front bumper and headlights from a Vauxhall Corsa parked on a residential street.
CCTV footage caught the moment two thieves broke into the car the gain access under the bonnet.
Car owner, Saarun Hussain awoke on the morning of January 24 to find his car had been targeted.
He said: “I was shocked when I saw what had happened.
“You can see that the thieves smash the glass window on the passenger side to release the bonnet.
“They then lift the bonnet and take off the front bumper and headlights.
“They didn’t take the car or anything from inside the car.
“And they didn’t take the back number plate or do any damage to the back of the car.
“I’ve sent my evidence to the police.
“I’m shocked that no-one heard the window being smashed as it must have caused some noise.
“They were quick, though, as the whole thing only took a couple of minutes.
“And I was worried that they had taken the number plate so I called the police straight away, in case it was involved in a crime.”
It follows numerous cases of Corsa parts theft in the Birmingham area in recent months.
It’s thought Corsa’s are targeted because of their popularity with younger drivers who are more likely to be involved in a collision, with drivers after a cheap fix.
The stolen parts usually end up going through illegal ‘chop shops’ and on the second hand market.
