IKEA this week announced that it will install electrical vehicle charge points in car parks at all of its 18 UK stores.
The new rapid-charging units, which have been developed by Nissan and will be installed before the end of this year, can recharge an electric vehicle from empty to 80% full in just thirty minutes.
The charging points will be free for all customers to use and there’ll be no charge for the electricity. The chargers will form part of the ‘Electric Highway’, which is expanding the UK motorway charging infrastructure.
Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity, said, ‘The Electric Highway is fast becoming vital to the electric car revolution. Our vision is to be able to travel the length and breadth of the country in an electric car.’
