A GW reader, who has asked to remain anonymous, has sent in a copy of a national fast fit invoice after a new customer of his enquired about the bill.
Highlighting his concerns, he said the bill was “riddled with inaccuracies and extortion.”
“Making money on parts and labour and making sure we make enough to live is fine but at the same time we give the customer a good deal.
“This job of over £720 lost them a customer and any family links they may have but they’ve gained us a new client base.”
He added: “Two wheel cylinders, cast iron type, we would pay roughly £8 each NET in the trade and we use the same suppliers but on their invoice it’s £135 plus VAT.
“Example two, front discs, non-vented, cast iron, to us are approximately £22 NET for the pair, they charged £173 plus VAT…”
