The first AutoInform event to be held in Scotland was a ‘major success’, according to both the organisers (ADS and OESAA) and the delegates who attended.
Following the format used at AutoInform Wolverhampton, which last year attracted over 400 professional mechanics, the event at the GTG Academy in Edinburgh proved that there is a desire among independent workshops north of the border to engage in high quality training.
As one of the founding members of OESAA, Schaeffler presented two 90 minute modules covering ‘E-mobility’ and ‘Common wheel bearing and belt system fitment problems’, as well as providing off-syllabus training in the GearBOX transmission repair solution.
Three stand-alone REPXPERT pods allowing visitors access and registration to the popular workshop knowledge website completed the Schaeffler offering.
“The quality and commitment of everyone who attended AutoInform in Edinburgh was fantastic, especially considering it was the last week of the six nations tournament,” said Malcolm Short, Schaeffler technical services manager and the man responsible for arranging the training schedule at AutoInform.
“The venues for both the training and the gala dinner were second to none, and the post-event comments we have received from the trainees has been extremely positive,” continued Malcolm.
“I can only see the event going from strength to strength, especially if we can continue to attract forward thinking, pro-active workshop professionals who want to ensure that their businesses are equipped to deal with the type of vehicle technology that will be driving into their workshops in the future”.
Fraser Anderson, ATA master technician from Fife, said: “The range of seminars on were excellent and left you feeling like the motor industry is still one of the quickest changing out there.”
Steve from CBS Repairs said: “Please offer more during the year; it took over two weeks to decide which group to book.
“Knowing there is an option to attend all groups throughout the year would be excellent.”
