Millwall fans have launched a campaign to raise funds for an ambulance that was damaged following England’s 2-0 World Cup quarter-final win over Sweden.

Supporters climbed on top of the service vehicle as the paramedic responded to an emergency call.

Millwall Supporters’ Club aims to raise £5,000 to repair the emergency vehicle, which suffered a dented bonnet and smashed windows during the incident.

By Tuesday morning, the fans’ Justgiving Crowdfunding raised more than £9,000.

The page said: “At the Millwall Supporters Club we think it is very important to help our local community, so we want to help to raise funds to help with the repair of an emergency response vehicle that was damaged after the England v Sweden game in the World Cup 2018 Quarter Final.

“We are very grateful for any donations and support you can offer.

“If the insurance company pays for the repairs, all monies raised will be donated to the Local Ambulance Service whose vehicle has sustained this damage.”
