Two Fraserburgh car dealership owners, Gordon and Morgan Murray, have been found guilty of assaulting a man who vandalised their vehicles. The verdict comes after a tense trial at Peterhead Sheriff Court.
The Murrays, father and son, denied attacking Roberto Tudora at his home in April 2021. However, the jury sided with the prosecution, led by Fiscal Depute Ruairidh McAllister.
Prosecutors argued the attack was a brutal revenge act for a prior incident where Tudora caused £33,000 in damages by pouring a corrosive substance on cars at Murray Motors.
Key evidence came in the form of a 999 call made by Tudora during the assault. The recording captured screams and shouts for help, contradicting the Murrays’ claim of self-defence.
Tudora himself testified about being struck with a hammer and repeatedly punched and kicked by both men. The court also heard from a neighbour who witnessed the attack and called 999, reporting sounds of violence and mentioning rumours of Tudora’s vandalism.
Despite the Murrays’ claims, they went to the property to evict Tudora and only acted defensively when he lunged with a hammer. The jury wasn’t convinced. Sentencing has been deferred for reports.
