The Skoda Fabia has won What Car? Car of the Year 2015.
Awards were presented in 16 categories, as the Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSI 90 SE model saw off strong competition from 25 other vehicles to carry away the crown.
Judges said: “When you consider the strength of the competition the new Fabia has had to beat to top its class, it simply has to win.
“It’s one of the very few cars on sale today that has no major weaknesses, and when you factor in how keenly priced it is, you start to wonder how on earth Skoda turns a profit.”
The Fabia’s turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine drew praise for marrying punchy performance with impressive economy. It also beat its main rivals in the small car class for both space and practicality.
Other 2015 winners include the Skoda Octavia (Family Car), the Audi A3 e-tron (electric car), Citroen Grand C4 Picasso (MPV) and the Nissan Qashqai (small SUV).
