Automechanika Birmingham 2025 marked a significant moment for the UK automotive industry, recording over 15,000 visitors for the first time in its history. This milestone highlights the sector’s resilience and appetite for innovation, bringing together professionals from the aftermarket and supply chain for three days of training, networking, and business opportunities at the NEC.
The event, attended by more than 7,000 garages, bodyshops, and detailers, featured over 550 suppliers from more than 35 countries. It received high ratings for live demonstrations, training sessions, and face-to-face engagement, reinforcing its status as the national meeting place for the sector. With over 70% of space already booked for the 2027 edition, the show has cemented its role as a platform for in-person business.
Mike Hawes, Chief Executive of SMMT, commented: “Automechanika Birmingham is now firmly established as the UK’s unmissable event for the aftermarket sector and automotive supply chain. At a time of significant transformation for the industry, it provides a vital platform to come together, share ideas, attract new talent and unlock future opportunities.”
A new addition this year was Motorvate, a feature designed to inspire careers in automotive among students and early career professionals through competitions and hands-on experiences. The show also saw the return of popular features such as the Aftermarket Hub, Modern Garage, Workshop Hub, and Paint & Spray Live, alongside Vehicle Detailing Live and Body Repair Live. These provided over 150 hours of free training on topics including diagnostics, EV servicing, and ADAS calibration. The Innovation4Mobility theatre also highlighted future automotive technologies.
Kevan Wooden, CEO of LKQ UK & Ireland, described Automechanika Birmingham as a “must-attend event,” praising its role in attracting talent and promoting career opportunities through programmes like Motorvate.
Mark Hallam, Head of Marketing ZF Aftermarket UK, called the event “outstanding,” providing a platform to engage directly with workshops and showcase innovations. ZF Aftermarket was a Gold Sponsor, indicating the event’s value.
Networking remained a key element, with events such as the Women in Automotive Drinks Reception and the SMMT Meet the Buyer programme. The Thirty Under 30 Awards, hosted on the Motorvate Ignite Arena, recognised emerging talent, and the Garage Awards celebrated excellence in the independent aftermarket.
Exhibitors showcased numerous product launches and innovations, often offering value-added services. Joanne Knowles, Event Director at Messe Frankfurt, concluded: “This year’s Automechanika Birmingham has been our strongest yet, not only in numbers, but in energy, ambition and impact. The feedback from visitors and exhibitors has been incredible.”
Exhibitors and visitors are also expected to attend the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event 2026, which will focus on workshops, technicians, and body repair specialists.
