Industry gets behind Motorvate Initiative

Hot off the heels of Automechanika Birmingham announcing the launch of it’s new Motorvate initiative, a not-for-profit program aimed at addressing the critical skills shortage within the automotive industry, they’ve secured the backing of major industry players.

These including Toyota GB, European Tyre Enterprise Limited (ETEL), LKQ Euro Car Parts, Autotech Group, and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). These organisations recognise the urgent need to attract, train, and retain skilled personnel.

Industry data suggests a potential shortfall of 160,000 workers in the sector by 2031. Motorvate seeks to bridge this gap by promoting automotive careers to the next generation.

Leading figures like Gavin White, founder of Autotech Group, have expressed their enthusiastic support for Motorvate. He believes it’s a crucial opportunity to collaborate and build a sustainable talent pipeline for the future.

Representatives from Toyota GB, Autotech Group, and School of Thought all emphasised the initiative’s potential to showcase diverse career paths within the industry, beyond traditional technician roles.

Motorvate will be held alongside Automechanika Birmingham at the Birmingham NEC from June 3rd to 5th, 2025. Messe Frankfurt UK, the show organiser, encourages more businesses to join this important initiative. By participating, companies can actively contribute to ensuring a skilled workforce for the automotive industry’s future.

Motorvate and Automechanika Birmingham will take place at the Birmingham NEC from 3rd – 5th June 2025 in Hall 17.
