Automechanika Birmingham is launching a major new initiative called Motorvate to address the critical skills shortage in the UK automotive industry.
Running alongside the main event in June 2025, Motorvate will provide a dedicated space for showcasing career paths, training, and recruitment opportunities.
Backed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and major industry players, Motorvate aims to bridge the gap between a projected shortfall of 160,000 workers by 2031 and the next generation of automotive professionals.
The event will cater to a diverse audience, from students and career-changers to experienced technicians seeking new challenges. Visitors can expect interactive exhibits, live talks featuring industry experts, and exciting activities sponsored by leading companies.
“Motorvate is a not-for-profit initiative,” said Simon Albert, MD of Messe Frankfurt UK. “We’re committed to connecting ambitious candidates with industry leaders and inspiring the next generation of automotive professionals.”
The initiative has secured Gavin White, founder of Autotech Group and a prominent industry advocate, as its ambassador. “Motorvate offers the platform our industry needs to tackle the skills gap head-on,” White commented.
Motorvate and Automechanika Birmingham will take place at the NEC Birmingham from 3rd to 5th June 2025. For more information about supporting the initiative or sponsorship opportunities, visit the official website or contact the organisers directly.
