A Lancashire farm partnership has been fined £80,000 following a fatal accident that occurred at their farm in Hutton, near Preston.
Joshua Hardman, 23, suffered traumatic head injuries when a tractor tyre exploded while he was assisting with tyre inflation in May 2021. He sadly succumbed to his injuries a month later.
Following an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the farm partnership pleaded guilty to a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
HSE Inspector Anthony Banks emphasised that this tragic incident could have been prevented with the implementation of appropriate safety controls.
In a statement, Mr. Hardman’s family described him as an “amazing dad” with a “heart of gold.”
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to health and safety regulations to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.
