Lucas Oils-sponsored dragster aiming to set new land speed record
The Lucas Oils-sponsored car will attempt to beat the 300mph barrier.

UK driver Geoff Stilwell will make a new world land speed record attempt during Bonneville Speed Week in Bonneville, Utah, in the USA later this year.

In 2018, the Lucas Oil-sponsored 7551 Rat Trap Racing LSR and the Salt Shaker Land racing team set the current record of over 258 mph for a BB/GRMR – blown B class motor/gas/rear engine/modified/roadster.

The new target, over two runs, is 300 mph.

Following a refit, the heart of 7707 for 2019 will be a Brad Anderson billet block and heads with a 14/71 supercharger and twin 44-amp Magnetos.

Running on a diet of 70 per cent nitro and kicking out approximately 5000 bhp, it is, in effect, a detuned current “Top Fuel” motor.

Lucas Oil is a global manufacturer of oils, lubricants and additives.

It is a brand associated with almost every kind of motorsport competition from grass roots Moto X to track racing motorcycles, cars, dragsters and monster trucks.
