An Isle of Man mechanic has been fined £250 for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
Curtis Davey, 18, told the courthouse in Douglas that he had owned the Volkswagen Golf for four days and admitted not knowing about its defects.
The court heard how the police had spotted Davey’s car in October, with officers saying it looked as though it had been involved in a collision. There were faults with a seatbelt and lights, while the bumper was held on with tape.
A vehicle examiner found a total of 16 defects.
Defence advocate, David Clegg, told the court: “The vehicle was only with Mr Davey for a few days. He purchased it in good faith and put four new tyres on and new brakes.”
Davey, who is subject to a six-month probation order for dangerous driving, entered a guilty plea, was fined and ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
