A mechanic from Oldham is restoring a 1975 MG Midget to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
Jody Bevan, known to many as ‘Auto Lass’ has been in the motor trade since 1997 and says she is doing it because she wants to “give something back for their [army veterans] sacrifices”. Tickets to win the MG are being sold for £10 each, with the winner being announced on Armistice Day.
The car will be rebuilt in a military theme to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking to ITV News from her workshop in Oldham, Jody said: “I’ve always loved cars, it used to drive my mum mad because she used to dress me up as a princess with big flowery, fluffy dresses on and pink ponytails and I just wanted to play with my big bucket of cars.”
Jody started her popular YouTube channel in 2021 to promote females in the automotive industry and to support the sustainable skills network.
“I had the idea to recommission an affordable starter classic, whilst trying to encourage people to work on their own classic cars at home so hopefully the younger generation will want to have a go,” said Jody.
“From two wheels to classic cars, retro, to modern day machinery and everything in between, I want to provide an insight into my world and what that entails in the industry.
“My goal which is to save classic cars, recommissioning them and get them back on the road.”
Tickets to win the MG are available via Jody’s PayPal page, but remember to leave your name, email address and contact number if you want to be in with a chance of winning the car.
