A customer’s Mercedes was destroyed after it burst into flames during a test drive following repairs.
It’s been reported that the fire was likely triggered by an electrical fault.
The mechanic stopped the car and got out as the flames engulfed the car in Leicester on Saturday morning.
Several members of the public called the fire service to report the blazing vehicle.
A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to a report of a car on fire at 9.36am.
“It appears a mechanic was driving the car on a test drive after it had been repaired.
“There was an electrical fault and the car became fully involved in fire.
“The car was destroyed in the blaze.”
No-one was hurt in the incident.
