A garage owner in Altrincham has lost his appeal to prevent the construction of four houses on a nearby car park that is used by his customers.

Anthony Cartwright, owner of Wolf Garage, expressed concerns that the development would significantly impact his business by limiting customer parking. He highlighted the limited on-street parking options available in the area.

Despite Mr. Cartwright’s concerns, the Trafford planning committee approved the development plans submitted by Generation Ltd.

The committee acknowledged the potential impact on the garage but emphasised the need to support housing development within the area.

As a condition of approval, Generation Ltd. will be required to fund a traffic regulation order (TRO) to explore alternative parking solutions for businesses in the vicinity.

While expressing sympathy for Mr. Cartwright’s situation, committee members emphasised the importance of supporting housing development within the local area.
