Hyundai and Kia have issued recalls for over 208,000 electric vehicles due to a potential issue that could lead to a loss of drive power. The affected models include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, GV60, and GV70, as well as the Kia EV6.
The problem stems from a faulty Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which can fail and prevent the 12-volt battery from charging. If the 12-volt battery is depleted, the vehicle may experience a complete loss of power.
To address the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the faulty ICCU and fuse, as well as update the vehicle’s software. It’s important to note that even vehicles that were previously repaired as part of an earlier recall may still require additional work to fully resolve the issue.
Both Hyundai and Kia have advised affected owners to monitor their vehicle’s 12-volt battery and to contact their dealership to schedule a repair appointment. Owners will receive notification letters in December and January.
