Kwik Fit seeks property ahead of expansion plans

Kwik Fit is seeking to further expand its network and has appealed for roadside property where it can establish new workshops.

The fast fit business already has 600 locations across the UK and has now released a list of 24 towns and cities where it is currently seeking freehold or lease property but said that all urban areas with a population of 200,000 people or more would be considered.

Its requirements detail a 3,000sq-ft to 10,000sq-ft site within close proximity of supermarkets, fast food outlets or leisure facilities.

Kwik Fit recently announced the launch of a motoring maintenance subscription service pilot in the North West and Yorkshire, with a national roll out to follow this summer.

The new Kwik Fit Club subscription claims to help motorists spread the cost of service and maintenance costs throughout the year.

With Kwik Fit Club membership, drivers pay a monthly subscription which covers all their tyre wear, including repairs and premium tyre replacement, wheel alignment and six monthly health checks.

They also have the option to include their MOT and servicing costs.

Drivers can join the programme and keep track of their subscription through an app, and although they can nominate a ‘home garage’, their membership can be used at any of Kwik Fit’s 600-plus centres across the country.

Roger Griggs, communications director at Kwik Fit says: “The growth in demand for subscription services has been dramatic over recent years, particularly with younger consumers.

“Benefits of Kwik Fit Club include members getting regular free health checks on their car and having regular, predictable maintenance costs instead of one-off spikes.

“If you think about buying four new tyres, traditionally car owners would pay for them all in one go – with Kwik Fit Club the cost is spread over the life of tyres – drivers are paying for them as they use them.”

more branches to upsell and rip more people off , i often see customers in my workshop with list of made up faults when there is nothing wrong just general wear and tear with plenty of life left in then , eg worn brake discs and pads which scare customers into getting them done

The key here is the “6 monthly health checks” which will almost certainly be compulsory and will sting the customer with all the things that are not covered by the contract.. eg brakes, suspension, exhausts etc etc etc.
Just like their previous schemes (or should that be scams) i.e “brakes for life” with the compulsory checks and “free puncture repairs” where nothing was ever repairable
