Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded to a large fire at a commercial garage on Bitterne Road West, Southampton, on 14 July.
The fire, which involved multiple vehicles and spread to nearby buildings, required a significant response, with 11 fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms deployed at the height of the incident. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, with relief crews taking over as the situation stabilised.
Due to the scale of the operation, local roads were closed temporarily, causing disruption for the public. The fire service expressed gratitude for the public’s patience and cooperation during this time.
A full investigation into the cause of the fire has been conducted, and it has been determined to be accidental, starting within a vehicle.
The fire service has thanked all emergency services and partners involved in the incident for their support in bringing the situation under control.
