Mechanic learns to read at 58, finally enjoys long-held magazine

Ted Midgely, a 58-year-old mechanic from Bradford, has successfully learned to read with the help of a dedicated tutor.

Mr. Midgely, who was diagnosed with dyslexia later in life, struggled with reading throughout his schooling.

Despite these challenges, he forged a successful career as a mechanic, working on motorcycles used in the exciting world of speedway racing.

His desire to further his career, particularly in managing a young Australian speedway rider, motivated him to learn to read.

With the support of his tutor, Duncan Livsey, from Read Easy Derby, Mr. Midgely has made significant progress, achieving a long-held personal goal: to finally read a copy of a Speedway Star magazine he purchased 40 years ago.

This inspiring story highlights the importance of continued learning and the positive impact that education can have at any stage of life.
