An investigation into the death of a Norwich garage owner on Christmas Day has ruled out foul play.
53-year-old Simon Stenton was found unresponsive in his flat above his garage, Norfolk Fast Track Repair, on Whiffler Road. Initial reports suggested a possible assault, but subsequent investigations found no evidence to support this claim.
The coroner’s court heard that Mr. Stenton’s partner found him unresponsive in bed after not hearing from him on Christmas Eve. While police initially treated the death as non-suspicious, an anonymous tip led to further investigation.
CCTV footage revealed three people leaving the garage on Christmas Eve, but no evidence of an assault was found.
A post-mortem examination ruled out any traumatic injuries and determined the cause of death to be cocaine toxicity.
The coroner, Jacqueline Lake, concluded that there was no evidence of unlawful killing or assault.
