The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has released figures indicating that 101,800 vehicle tests were conducted across Northern Ireland centres in February. This represents the highest number of vehicle tests conducted in a February period since records began.
In February, the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) conducted 85,929 full tests (84.4%) and 15,854 retests (15.6%). This is a 3.6% increase compared to February of the previous year. For the 2024/25 financial year to date, the DVA has delivered 1,058,543 vehicle tests.
The agency received 79,915 applications for full vehicle tests in February 2025, down from 91,980 in February 2024.
Practical driver tests saw 5,383 conducted in February 2025, a 3.2% increase compared to the same month in 2024. From April 2024 to February 2025, 63,256 driver tests were delivered, a 9.2% increase over the same period in 2023/24.
Driver theory tests saw 7,432 conducted in February 2025, a 6.0% decrease compared to February 2024. For the 2024/25 financial year to date, 82,123 theory tests were conducted, slightly above the previous year’s figure.
